SpaceX has started hiring for Starbase Louisiana. As of Saturday, the company’s public job board lists eight openings located in Pecan Island, La., the first jobs tied to the planned launch site in Vermilion Parish, according to a review of the listings by The Vermilion Times.
All eight are senior professional roles focused on getting the site built: civil and construction engineering, construction management, safety, environmental compliance, government affairs and communications. None lists a salary.

For comparison, the same job board lists about 450 openings at SpaceX’s existing Starbase site in Texas.
How many jobs are coming
SpaceX’s Louisiana site is supposed to grow to 3,000 direct jobs within ten years, paying $92,600 a year on average, according to The Center Square. Building is slated to start in 2027 and launches in 2029.
Whether those jobs go to Vermilion Parish residents is an open question. The parish’s tax deal with SpaceX treats hiring locals as a goal, not a rule, according to the citizens’ group Vermilion United, as reported by Acadiana News First.
How to apply
SpaceX posts its openings on its careers page at spacex.com/careers, where job seekers can search by location for Pecan Island. The Times will update this list as new Louisiana positions appear.
